Have you ever wondered why chocolate candy bars are sold on racks at nearly every checkout line in every grocery store? It’s because people are prone to impulse shopping and when they’re standing there waiting to make their purchases, they look over and get a craving for chocolate. Why? Because there’s something about chocolate candy bars that arouses hunger and anticipation in nearly everyone. It would be highly unlikely to find someone who doesn’t like chocolate candy bars, and grocery stores understand the power of impulse buying.

At The Movie Theater

The sale of chocolate candy bars is very popular in movie theaters. They are priced much higher at the movie theater than at the grocery store, but people still buy their favorite chocolate candy bars so that they can watch the movie with a tasty treat. The candy bars they sell at the theater are often bigger than at the grocery stores, too, which probably accounts for their higher cost but it always makes a movie better when you have your favorite chocolate candy bar in one hand and a drink in the other.

Holidays

Most holidays are synonymous with all manner of sweets and of course, chocolate candy bars. At Christmas time, you can find Christmas themed candy bars, at Easter, they sell Easter themed candy bars and most other holidays they do the same. It is also customary to give chocolate candy gifts during these holidays as they’re inexpensive and they give that special someone a wonderful sweet gift. And speaking of that special someone. Valentine’s Day is the one holiday that literally screams “chocolate candy gifts”. Usually these chocolate candy gifts are in the shape of hearts.

However, it doesn’t have to be a holiday for you to enjoy your favorite chocolate candy bar. You could be at the grocery store, you could be at the movie theater or you could just pick one up at the gas station. Anytime is a great time for your favorite chocolate candy bar. It’ll give you a natural high, as chocolate releases endorphins, it’ll satisfy your cravings and it’ll probably put a big smile on your face. So it’s no wonder why everyone loves chocolate candy bars!

If you don’t have a favorite candy bar, there are many to choose from. Try a few different ones and you’ll soon find the one you really like. You may like dark chocolate or the milk chocolate. Whether it’s pure chocolate, chocolate with a crispy wafer center or one with nougat or some other ingredients, there’s a candy bar out there for everyone.

How do candy makers get their candy bars to look like they do? You’ve seen the various type of chocolate candy bars with the unique shapes: The Twix candy bars, The Kit Kats, the Hershey’s Bars with their grid style shape, and many others. First, the chocolatier first mixes up all their ingredients into a big vat. This vat is then poured into a chocolate candy mold where it is solidified after cooling, and then is packaged to be shipped out to a store near you. So if you’ve only bought and eaten the chocolate candy bars without thinking of the hard work that goes into making them, be ready to be educated.

Heat Is Important

The chocolate must first be melted through heat before it can be poured into the chocolate candy molds. This mixture has to be stirred frequently as it’s being heated so that it doesn’t clump up. Simple mixtures, like the ones that Hershey’s uses for their grid style chocolate candy molds are easy to make and pour. They’re consistently the same chocolate throughout the whole candy bar. However, other slightly more complex candy bars require chocolate candy molds that are a little more involved. Take a Kit Kat for instance. The chocolate candy mold must hold the interior crispy wafer part so that the chocolate can be poured around it. For those candy bars with interiors that aren’t made of chocolate, or that have different ingredients, the chocolate candy molds have to be especially made so that they can accommodate these other ingredients.

Cooling

After the heated chocolate mixture is poured into the chocolate candy mold, it is then set aside for cooling and hardening. Once they are cooled, they are put through a machine that will wrap them up in foil or wrapping paper before they are boxed up. Usually there are people supervising this process, making sure that the chocolate candy molds are being poured, cooled and packaged correctly. The automated pouring and packaging of chocolate candy bars these days is so seamless that each candy bar made is identical to every other, with hardly any deformities or misshaped bars.

So the next time you bite into a candy bar, think of the hard work, and the chocolate candy molds that were used to make the candy bar you now hold in your hand. You likely have a whole new appreciation for the making of your favorite chocolate bar.
